This isn’t just another rock’n’roll gig. Gandu Circus – essentially Five Little Indians featuring Gandu the rapper – is about changing perceptions. Trashing genre straitjackets, the Circus offers a taste of twin avatars: the melodic, heavily layered alt-rock of Five Little Indians, followed by songs off the film’s soundtrack rapped out by Gandu with angry, explicit lyrics and music that veers from punk to drum’n’bass to no-frills rock’n’roll. Like its namesake, the scriptless film, this collaboration between Gandu and Five Little Indians was born organically. There are no boundaries on the words and music. There’s but one criterion to come experience the Circus: an open mind.

The Circus is a 90-minute set, divided into 45 minutes of original music by Five Little Indians segueing into 45 minutes of music off the Gandu soundtrack, accompanied by visuals from the film.

Five Little Indians (FLI) was formed in January 2007. The band merges melodic rock and a heavier sound with singer-songwriter sensibilities. FLI’s use of Hindustani Classical vocals as another voice results in a unique soundscape that can only be defined as its own. FLI played its debut show at the Eastwind Festival in 2008 and has gone on to headline some of the biggest music festivals in India, including the Autumn Festival at Shillong and the Hornbill Festival at Nagaland in November-December 2009. The band opened for pop superstar Richard Marx on his Rock’n’India tour in February 2010.

The band is set to release its debut EP, Four On The Floor, produced by UK-based, BBC Radio One producer Miti Adhikari, who has worked with Coldplay, Radiohead, The Deftones and Pearl Jam to name a few.
